We can hardly believe it’s been nearly a year since the highly-anticipated October 2022 launch of the Tampa Bay Area’s very first Bus Rapid Transit service, the SunRunner! From what began as a decade’s-long dream, the SunRunner has met and exceeded all of our hopes and dreams for the future of public transit in the Tampa Bay Area.
It seems like just yesterday that we were celebrating the first 10,000 riders—and now, we’ve hit one million! In honor of this rapidly approaching achievement, we wanted to share 1 million things to do to celebrate 1 million trips on the SunRunner.
Of course, this may not be exactly one million things to do, but we’re getting as close to that mind-boggling number as we can!
SunRunner Fares
While the SunRunner has been fare-free for the first year of operation, the anniversary of the SunRunner also heralds the implementation of fares.
Starting October 1st, 2023, the SunRunner will begin charging fares, so make sure to learn all the convenient ways you can pay your way! It’s important to remember that the SunRunner CANNOT take cash—here are the ways you can pay your fare:
- Tap Enabled Credit/Debit Cards, Digital Wallet
- Flamingo Fares App/Card
- Reduced Fare (only available with Flamingo Fares card registered with PSTA Customer Service)
